Polk Mechanical Company Wins the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) National Safet Excellence Award

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – February 20, 2013 – Polk Mechanical Company, was proud recipient of the ABC NATIONAL SAFETY EXCELLENCE AWARD for their outstanding safe performance during calendar year 2012. This award recognizes Polk’s exceptional safety record, rigorous safety training and education programs and excellence in the 20 components of ABC’s Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP).
Out of over 486 companies across the country that competed for this distinguished award in three categories – “General Contractor”, “Heavy and Civil Engineering Contractor” and “Specialty Contractor”, Polk Mechanical was the proud recipient of the Excellence Award in the Specialty Contractor category.

The ABC National Safety Excellence Awards recognize companies who exhibit a continued commitment to jobsite safety and whose safety performance and programs are judged to be exemplary by the ABC National Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Committee. Awards are based on data submitted via STEP Diamond and Platinum applications and company interviews/site visits. Award categories are based on a company’s total work-hours per calendar year and placement within the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS).
The 2012 National Safety Excellence Awards were presented Wednesday, February 20, 2013 during the 23nd annual Excellence In Construction banquet at ABC’s premier event, BizCon, at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
